A Theology for the Social Gospel is naturally a deeply theological book but at the same time it is pretty is for reading. Walter Rauschenbusch did a fantastic job in describing a portrait of a real Christian of the modern world. He discusses a number of stereotypes which our life is filled with. Every Christian has to understand that he/she lives in a world full of evil deeds so he/she has to be tolerable to it. A great attention of the book is paid to the problem of poverty. As the author believes, the routes of this phenomenon are in th wrong principles of the society foundation and thus only with the help of religion it is possible to overcome poverty. Rauschenbusch shows his wonderful knowledge of the subject as he devoted all his life to the theological studies after he became a theological at Rochester Seminary. His work is a must-read for all Christians because it is quite scientific and academic and besides, it teaches good and light things and open readers' eyes on many vices of our modern society.
