A 1909-1912 work by Sven Anders Hedin, a Swedish geographer, topographer, explorer, photographer, and travel writer, as well as an illustrator of his own works, whose investigations in Tibet and western China make him one of the most eminent explorers of Asia. Between 1905 and 1908 he investigated the Central Persian desert basins, the western highlands of Tibet and the Transhimalaya. The result of the expedition was the description of numerous historical memorials and landscapes; eliminated lots of blank spot on the map of Tibet and other regions of Middle East.
