What a case study! We knew my mom was born in 1930 and should have been recorded in the US census with her father Albert Labuer. However when we queried the Ancestory.com records we only could find an Albert Sauber. We checked the original Census microfilm, which was digitized on the Internet Archive and found that there was a typo from the original census record to the Ancestory.com record. An "L" had been turned into an "S". My mom would have gone genealogically "extinct' if we hadn't had access to the original source records. Thank you Internet Archive for digitizing this national treasure!
