A Child of the Sea and Life among the Mormons is an account of memories of the author herself. The book was published for the first time in 1905 and since then it has been popular among a number of readers. From the story we find out that Elizabeth Williams lives for some time on Mackinac Island, Menominee, Beaver Island, and in some other places. During her life on Beaver Island she encountered Mormons settlements and in the book with find large descriptions of their way of living. A great number of other interesting events are also included in the book, such as wolf attacks or communication with American Indians. Mrs. Williams narrates about the times when she was about seven years old and some critics state that not everything presented in the book is true. But anyway, the story is truly fascinating and it will appeal to different readers with different tastes.
