The British and Foreign Bible Society, was formed and funded by Evangelical Churches, to help and encourage others with the words of Jesus. But they found themselves disturbed by an increasing tendency within the BFBS to depart from its mandate, and to include books in the Bibles published by BFBS, that the funders had not authorized. This caused several challenges. The Edinburgh Bible SOciety wrote to express its concern. What had upset many was that most supporters understood themselves to be supporting the translation of the Traditional historic books of the Bible. But the BFBS had, in foreign versions, decided to insert other books as well, even though the supporters at home (In England, Wales, and Scotland among others), were not informed of this.
