USAtomic Japan

Book cover
"USAtomic Japan" is an unconventional 13-page collage artist's book. In surprising juxapositions that appear unrelated, intuitive insights about Postwar USA and Japanese relations emerge in the viewer. Mickey Mouse represents the USA, and Hiroshima survivors represent Japan. Mixing in with this are racist ethnographic studies, doggie ice cream, Joshua blowing his horn, and directions for US soldiers following an A-bomb blast. Also intermingled is the story of a US soldier who was a Japanese prisoner-of-war during WWII. He returned postwar as a Christian missionary. Such a linear description is misleading as all these elements are visually interwoven. What a work of art! First of all it is a work of art and humor. A special for collage lovers.
