The Object and Manner of Our Lord's Return
The Object and Manner of Our Lord's Return by Charles Taze Russell. This was Russell's first publication (1877) and written while Russell was working with N.H. Barbour. In it, Russell presents the view that Christ had already returned invisibly and "at any moment" the Bride of Christ would be taken to heaven (see page 62). In the same year, Barbour and Russell also published the book "The Three Worlds" which taught that Christ had returned invisibly in 1874 and a rapture to heaven would occur in 1878. Russell later published the Watchtower magazine, which is now published by Jehovah's Witnesses. Included is a review of The Object and Manner of Our Lord's Return as published by George Storrs in The Bible Examiner magazine in 1878.
