The Go-Getter
Peter B. Kyne (1880-1957), novelist and prolific short story writer, wrote about ranchers and loggers, businessmen and seamen. His novel “The Go-Getter”owes much to the author’s service with the Company L Fourteenth Infantry for the Spanish-American War and the Philippine Insurrection. It tells of a disabled man, veteran Bill Peck, in his past the participant of World War I, getting over seemingly insuperable odds with his persistence and wit. After all he proves his stamina and becomes a successful businessman.
