The Expedition of the Donner Party and its Tragic Fate

Book cover
Eliza Poor Donner Houghton was a Donner party survivor, a group of California-bound American immigrants caught up in the "westering fever" of the 1840s. In her book she told of all the great hardships they endured on their way, as well as describes life in early California. Most of the information about the expedition is based upon the recollections of other survivors, including those of her older sisters.
Though written from a perspective of a child, “The Expedition of the Donner Party” offers a vivid picture of the early pioneering days.
