Augustus Allen Hayes, Jr. (1837-1892) was an American author. He contributed to various magazines and periodicals. He graduated from Harvard University. He lived in China for many years and on returning to the United States, he became the secretary and acting vice president of the Brush Electric Light Company. He was also one of the founders of the comic weekly Life. His works include: New Colorado and the Santa Fe Trail (1880) and The Denver Express (1884). --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.
