The plot is as touching, funny and sad as the life itself. The main character – an old actor Vasiliy Svetlovidov – fell asleep in his make-up room after successful benefit performance. It was the first time he found himself on the empty and dark stage. In a cruel and cold darkness of the auditorium he saw his own late adulthood, tragic end inevitability. Fear made him speechless when there appeared a blurred figure dressed in white. That was homeless prompter Nikita Ivanovich who secretly spent his night in the theatre.
Svetlovidov looks back on his life dedicated to stage and tries to understand whether this sacrifice that every artist makes every evening has a special sacred sense?
