This book took a bit too long to engage me. It took me about two weeks to get through the first 2/3 (which is long time for me) and then one night to get through the last 1/3. Once it grabbed me, I couldn't put it down... But I almost put it down for good during the first two weeks. Subtle, slow, real romance (not the quick, in-your-face summer beach read kind of romance), with VERY strong character development. Not a bad read. Excited to discuss this one in book club ... it felt like there was a lot going on - maybe too much for one story. I liked the main character but had a hard time deciding how I wanted the story to go and still am not sure that I'm satisfied. It had a very light tone for being a book about such a serious subject matter. I don't want to say more and give away anything because you really don't know what the book is about until you're a good ways into it.
