The ill. are from the original etched plates, while the text has been reset with other woodcut head and tail pieces and ornamental initials Binding: old vellum over paper board. Pastedowns now loose, revealing paper waste used to reinforce spine (a rubricated Latin text printed in rotonda) Under the loose front pastedown at the lower left corner of the paper board is a small property stamp in purple ink; it consists of a circle containing a shield surrounded by a legend (...denkmalamt). At upper left corner of the front pastedown is Theodore Besterman's calligraphic bookplate, signed with the initials P.S
