In 2009, Justin Halpern was a struggling writer who wasn’t making it in Hollywood, forcing him to move back in with his parents. That was, it turns out, the best thing that ever happened to his career. Halpern realized that his father’s bearish one-liners and sarcastic observations were comedic gold, so he started to share them on the Twitter feed “Sh*t My Dad Says.” The success of the tweets, which went viral, led to aNew York Times best-selling book of the same name and a short-lived CBS TV show starring William Shatner as Halpern’s dad.
