History of Little Nine Partners, of North East precinct, and Pine Plains, New York, Duchess [!] county

No more published The Little or Upper Nine Partners patent (so called to distinguish from the Great or Lower Nine Partners patent of 1697) was granted in 1706 to Sampson Broughton and 7 others (George Clark becoming the 9th partner a little later). Dutchess county, though laid out in 1683 was not organized till 1713; in 1737 it was subdivided into 7 precincts, one of which, the North precinct, became the Northeast precinct in 1746 and the town of Northeast in 1788. This precinct and town included nearly all the land actually held under the Little Nine Partners patent.
