The text primarily describes a cavalcade of allegorical figures, entitled "Trionfo de' sogni", which was one of the festivities held in honor of the wedding of Francesco I de Medici and Giovanna d'Austria (cf. Nagler, A. M. Theatre festivals of the Medici, 1539-1637) The pageant car was designed by Bernardo Buontalenti, painted by Michele di Ridolfo del Ghirlandajo, and the sculptures and reliefs of it were made by Giambologna. Cencio della Nera, goldsmith of the Grand Duke, manufactured the masks for the witches and the horses, while another Cencio made all the embroideries. Buontalenti made all the costumes Nagler, A. M.
