A Journey, A Life - Saraswati's Story
This is a work of fiction. It is the story of an Indian woman who took the chances that life offered to her, and, in the process, caused a change in the lives of many others. The inspiration for the story is Smt. V. T. Lakshmi (1904-1981), a child widow like the protagonist, who went on to become a vigilance officer herself, and maintained a log of her night rounds to places that few women would dare visit or take on and try to reform in early to mid- 20th century India.
