Packard Frank Lucius
Frank Lucius Packard (February 2, 1877 - February 17, 1942) was a Canadian novelist. He was born in Montreal, Quebec and as a young man went to work as a civil engineer for the Canadian Pacific Railway. His experiences working on the railroad led to his writing a series of mystery novels, the most famous of which featured a character called Jimmie Dale. Frank Packard died in 1942 in Lachine, Quebec and was buried in the Mount Royal Cemetery in Montreal. Add to list of Frank L. By consulting a block of small type at thebottom of the page, he found a corresponding asterisk with the words: " Flag station. Stops only on signal, or to discharge eastbound passengers from Portland." John Garfield Madison went into the smoking compartment of the car for a cigar several cigars until Needley was reached some two hours later, when the dusky attendant, as he pocketed Madison's dollar, set down his little rubber-topped footstool with a flourish on a desolate and forbidding-looking platform. Madison was neither surprised nor dismayed the parlor-car conductor, the train conductor and the timetable had in no way attempted to deceive him he was only cold. Frank Lucius Packard (1877-1942) was a Canadian novelist. He was born in Montreal, Quebec and as a young man went to work as a civil engineer for the Canadian Pacific Railway. In English detective literature a charming adventurer appears in various characters, Jimmie Dale being one of them. This is the first book of the Jimmie Dale series by a Canadian novelist Frank Lucius Packard. In contrast to “evil geniuses”, this hero embodies life in all its complicacy and variability, not being able to go into Procrustean bed of moral code and rules. He is not exemplary, but appears a reminder of the fact, how scanty our attempts to see the world in black and white are. That is why the reader can easily sympathize with him without risking to look defective.
