Author Luc Carl explains that his book is not a recipe for weight loss in the conventional sense. There are no skinny food recipes and no restrictions on what one should or should not eat. Instead, it is a memoir that chronicles his battle to drop 40 pounds in about a year. Carl states that it was his goal to shed the weight "without giving up his principles of being a hard drinking party maker."
Galley Cat reports that the bar manager's book is slated for release from St. Martin's Press in 2012. The "Drunk Diet" promises an approach that allows for hard drinking and a musician's lifestyle while toning and getting fit. Is it too good to be true?
It's not all Whiskey and Shots
The reader who hopes that Lady Gaga's boyfriend has found the magic bullet of dieting without the actual diet will be sorely disappointed. A review of Carl's blog shows - in addition to an astonishing collection of four-letter words - the need to enjoy a Cobb salad without bacon and blue cheese as well as the importance of exercising two hours a day.
There is nothing easy about his weight loss and struggle to stay in shape. Carl reveals that he runs between 20 and 40 miles a week (and that he has done so for the last two years). Getting down to brass tacks, there is also a good bit of alcohol wisdom involved.
Being a bartender, Luc Carl knows what he's talking about when he suggests ordering a rum and diet coke or whiskey soda (as reported by Fit Perez). What are the drinks to avoid? There is the Bloody Mary, Margarita or Long Island Ice Tea.
What's the Deal with Celebrity Diets?
In 2010, there was the "Kind Diet," championed by actress Alicia Silverstone. It advocated a vegan lifestyle. Then there was Jay Robb's "Fruit Flush," diet which is a more of a detox than an actual diet. Prior to that, in 2009, Harley Pasternak debuted his "5 Factor Plan" that capitalized on the low glycemic index for diet information. His celeb clients include Kanye West, Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus.
With the title of Lady Gaga boyfriend, Luc Carl is sure to move some books come 2012. While it is unclear if Gaga participates in the Carl diet, those in search for an entertaining read might want to check it out. Anyone hoping to just kick back, guzzle a few brews and channel-surf - while losing weight - will likely be disappointed.
