Hawthorne was a 19th century novelist and short story writer. He wrote about life in Colonial America. This story was first published in Snow Images and other twice told stories. His stories bring to life the times, the people, and their struggles. The personal struggles of Colonial times are very similuar to the struggles of the 21st century.
