Northanger Abbey
One of the earliest novels by Jane Austen, an English novelist of the 19th-20th centuries which was published however after the author’s death. It appears to be a parody on gothic novels, which were extremely popular at that time. “Northanger Abbey” tells a story of a young girl, dreamy and simple-hearted. A daughter of a priest, she lived in their small house with numerous brothers and sisters, doing needlework, walking, reading novels. Until once her family decides to set off for a journey to a neighboring pleasure resort. This book is for everyone who can’t stand fuss and haste, but appreciate somewhat imperceptible things, as glances, smiles and moods, in the thread of narration. It still excites readers with its elegance, brightness and playful charm.
