Military Government in Munich Jan 1947

Book cover
In World War 2, the city of Munich fell on April 30 1945. My cousin, Lt Col. E. Keller, was head of the provisional Military Government that had been planning for the previous year how to establish law and order, get the population fed, repair the utilities and to throw out the Nazis who had been running the city during the war. He and his team arrived in Munich the morning of May 1st 1946 to assume command of this city of 475,000 people. This report, written in Jan 1947, chronicles the successes, failures and observations of he and his team. One might find interesting parallels as to how the US has approached taking over other cities after combat has ceased. submitted by Robert Miller
