A Visit to the Armenian-Romanist Convent at Venice
Extracted from The Colonial Church Chronicle and Missionary Journal and Foreign Ecclesiastical Reporter (London, January 1863) pp. 151-154, this is a short but fascinating description of the Mxit'arist/Mekhitarist monastery in Venice by an English clergyman. It includes descriptions of the gondola ride to the isle of San Lazzaro, the history of the Mxit'arist order, its purpose and activities in the mid 19th century, its school for boys and their curriculum.
